How to Reach Manali

If you also want to visit Manali this year then first you must know how to reach Manali. To reach Manali you have to first reach Delhi or Chandigarh from your city. You can reach Delhi or Chandigarh from any big city of India through bus train or flight. From Delhi and Chandigarh you will get Volvo AC buses and HRTC government buses daily for Manali.

From Delhi you get buses for Manali from Kashmiri Gate ISBT bus stand. Distance from Delhi to Manali is about 520 km. Government bus fare from Delhi to Manali is budget friendly and Volvo sleeper buses cost up to ₹2000. From Chandigarh you get buses from ISBT bus stand. Distance from Chandigarh to Manali is about 265 km. Bus fare in government buses is ₹660 and Volvo sleeper bus fare is between ₹800 and ₹1000.

You can also reach Kullu airport near Manali by flight from your city but this airport is not well connected from all cities of India. So better option is to reach Manali from Delhi or Chandigarh by bus which is easy and convenient. You will also enjoy beautiful views on the way.

Day 1 Sightseeing Local Manali

On Day One you can explore local Manali. For sightseeing you can rent a scooty or bike. You will see many shops for rental. Scooty rent is ₹500 to ₹700 and bike rent is ₹1000 to ₹1500. From bus stand you can also take auto rickshaw which charges ₹500 to ₹700 for sightseeing. Taxis charge ₹1000 to ₹2000.

First you can visit Hadimba Devi temple which is 2 km from bus stand. This temple is dedicated to Hadimba wife of Bhima. Here you can take blessings of Hadimba Devi. The temple is surrounded by deodar trees and snow in winter makes the place more beautiful. Near the temple you will also see Doongri Van Vihar. Entry ticket is ₹10 per person. Here you can enjoy swings with your kids and click beautiful photos.

After this you can go to Vashisht temple which is 4 km from Mall Road. This temple is more than a thousand years old. Inside the temple there is a hot water spring where you can sit for a while or take a bath. Then you can go to Club House about 5 km from here. Club House is famous for many adventure activities like zip line. Children and adults both enjoy this place.

After this you can go to Manu temple dedicated to Rishi Manu after whom Manali is named. This temple is located in Old Manali. Old Manali is a peaceful place with many cafes where you can relax and enjoy the views. In the evening you can visit Mall Road. Mall Road looks amazing in evening with lights. You will see street food shops open here and many shops for shopping. Here you also get ATM pharmacy rental taxi and bus booking shops. With this your Day One ends.

Day 2 Sightseeing Solang Valley and Atal Tunnel

On Day Two you can go to Solang Valley. You can book a taxi for Solang Valley which costs around ₹2500. With bargaining price may reduce. You can also go by local bus where per person fare is ₹10 but only three or four buses are available. Bus timings are 10 AM to 2 PM.

On the way you first see Nehru Kund which has clean water. After this you reach Solang Valley which is about 13 km from Mall Road. Solang Valley is famous for snow adventure activities. Here you can do paragliding motor bike ride zip line horse riding and skiing in snow. You can also enjoy ropeway views here. After enjoying Solang Valley you can go to Atal Tunnel.

Atal Tunnel is 9 km long and is the longest tunnel in the world. This tunnel connects to Ladakh. Earlier due to heavy snow roads were closed but now with this tunnel roads remain open all year. Here you can enjoy tunnel view and surrounding beauty and then return to hotel in evening. With this your Day Two ends.

Day 3 Sightseeing Rohtang Pass or Sissu

On Day Three you can go to Rohtang Pass. For this you need permit. Rohtang Pass remains closed from November to March. In summer you can go and enjoy heavy snowfall and snow adventure activities. For honeymoon couples Rohtang Pass is a favorite spot.

If Rohtang Pass is closed you can go to Sissu village located 40 km from Manali in Lahaul and Spiti district. Sissu is at an altitude of 10330 feet. It is famous for beautiful scenery snow covered mountains green valleys and peaceful lake. Here you can enjoy views near lake and also adventure activities like rock climbing paragliding rafting and mountain biking. Sissu is peaceful compared to crowded Manali and couples especially love this place. After enjoying here you can return to Manali and in evening take bus for your home.

Local Bus Sightseeing Option

In Manali you also have option of Himachal tourism bus for sightseeing. Fare is only ₹660 per person. These buses cover Solang Valley Atal Tunnel Sissu and few other points. You can book ticket from Himachal tourism office located on Mall Road. Office timing is 9 AM to 5 PM. You need to book one day in advance. Buses start at 10 AM and return to Manali bus stand by 6 PM. At every sightseeing point you get about one hour. This is a good option for solo travelers.

Best Time to Visit Manali

You can visit Manali in two seasons. In winter season from December to March you see snowfall and snow adventure. In summer season from April to June you see greenery and pleasant weather but it is peak tourist season so rates of hotels and other things increase.
