- Now let’s talk about how you can reach Khatu Shyam Temple. You can reach Khatu Shyam Temple by bus, train, or flight. If you want to come by flight, then you can come to Jaipur International Airport.
- The nearest airport to Khatu Shyam Temple is Jaipur International Airport, which is about 94 km away from Khatu Shyam Temple. After reaching Jaipur Airport, you will get a taxi outside the airport directly for Khatu Shyam Temple.
- if you want to come to Khatu Shyam Temple by train, then the nearest railway station is Ringas Railway Station, which is about 19 km away from Khatu Shyam Temple.
- After reaching Ringas Railway Station, you will get taxi and sharing jeeps outside the station. If you go by sharing jeep, then the fare will be around ₹50 per person to reach Khatu Shyam Temple.
- And if you do not have a direct train facility from your city to Ringas Railway Station, then you can come to Jaipur Railway Station by train, and from there you can go to Ringas Railway Station. Or you can get down at Jaipur Railway Station and from there go directly to Khatu Shyam Temple by taxi.

- Jaipur Railway Station is only 1 km away from Sindhi Camp Bus Stand, where you will get private as well as government buses for Khatu Shyam Temple.
- You will get e-rickshaws outside Jaipur Railway Station which drop you at Sindhi Camp Bus Stand, costing ₹10 per person. From Sindhi Camp Bus Stand, you will get government buses to Khatu Shyam Temple at a ticket price of ₹50–₹80.
- Private buses are also available but their frequency is a little less. So, I would suggest you prefer government buses.
- this is the best option to reach Khatu Shyam Temple. And if you are coming from Delhi or Haryana, then you will get direct buses from there to Khatu Shyam Temple.

- you will get buses from Gate No. 5, and the ticket will cost around ₹550 per person. My ticket was also ₹550 per person. We were four people. So let’s start the journey.
Delhi to Khatu Shyam Journey
The bus I boarded started at 10:30 pm at night. As I started watching the Delhi views from the bus, after a little journey, at 12:30 am midnight, the bus stopped at a dhaba for 1–1.5 hours.
Here, you can have tea and snacks. We also had tea and snacks here, then continued the journey ahead.
My journey passed mostly sleeping, and after around 7 hours of travel, we reached Khatu Shyam Temple Bus Stand
Hotels and Stays near Khatu Shyam Temple
After walking about 1 km and searching a few hotels, I got this hotel. This is the room we got, a double-bed room for ₹2500 for one day.
You can choose hotels like this according to your budget. If you are with family, you can stay here. Otherwise, there are many Dharamshalas where you can stay. You will also get rooms for just ₹50 per person if you only want to get fresh before darshan.
We took a double-bed room because we were 4 people, and we wanted to rest properly. If you are coming with a big family or group of friends, then you can choose these hotels.
Otherwise, there are many other options like Dharamshala and budget hotels. And if you don’t want to stay, then you will also get bathing facilities here at ₹50 to ₹100 per person.
Towards Khatu Shyam Temple
After getting fresh and resting, we were ready by 11 am to go for darshan. From the hotel, walking a little distance, we found the market on the way to Khatu Shyam Temple.
Here you can buy puja items for your home. You will also find many shops here. People who come with Nishan (flag) as a vow usually start their 19 km foot journey from Ringas Railway Station. They bring the Nishan and submit it at the temple.
If you are not coming from Ringas or have not taken a vow for Nishan, then you can directly come here. The main gate of the temple is just 1 km away from the hotel.

Darshan at Khatu Shyam Templ
- photography and videography are not allowed inside the temple.
- If you are going for Visit, let me give you a tip. You should deposit your shoes at the shops near the temple entrance itself because after visit, you will exit from the other side.
- If you leave shoes inside, you may face trouble returning to collect them. So, it is better to keep them at the entrance.
- Prasad is also available for ₹50 and ₹100, and you can offer it in the temple. and can See the idol in 10–15 minutes comfortably because it was a weekday.
- On weekdays darshan is easy. On weekends the crowd is heavier.
Visit to Shyam Kund
- Shyam Kund is considered a very ancient pond connected to Mahabharata times. It is believed that Barbarika’s head emerged here, and devotees have great faith in it.
- It is said that Barbarika washed his head here after it was severed, so this sacred water is considered like nectar.
- During Phalgun month, you will see a huge crowd here. Shyam Kund is called a Kund because the sacred water comes naturally from underground. Since Barbarika washed his head here, it is called Shyam Kund.
Food and Tea Options near Temple
After spending some good time here, I searched for a restaurant. You will find food places where you can get a normal thali between ₹80–₹100. You will also find tea, snacks, and street food options. Tea costs ₹10 in a cup and ₹20 in a kulhad. After a good meal and tea I returned to the hotel.

Story of Khatu Shyam Ji
There was a lot of noise at the temple, so I thought to narrate the story of Khatu Shyam Ji in a quieter place. Khatu Shyam Temple located in Sikar, Rajasthan is one of the most famous temples of Lord Krishna in India, where thousands of devotees come from far away. During the fair in February–March, the crowd is very heavy, especially on Ekadashi.
Khatu Shyam Ji is also known as Barbarika, the son of Ghatotkacha (son of Bhima) and his wife Maurvi. Barbarika was a brave warrior blessed with three divine arrows which could destroy anything. He wanted to join the Mahabharata war. His mother made him promise two things – first, that he would always support the weaker side, and second, that he would give anything asked by a Brahmin on the way.
When Lord Krishna met Barbarika, he tested his powers. Barbarika pierced all the leaves of a tree with one arrow, even the one under Krishna’s foot. Seeing this, Krishna realized Barbarika’s strength and became worried because he was bound to fight for the weaker side, which would change the balance of the war. Disguised as a Brahmin, Krishna asked him for his head as alms. Without hesitation, Barbarika cut off his head and offered it.
Krishna, pleased with his sacrifice, asked for his last wish. Barbarika wished to see the Mahabharata war. So Krishna placed his head on a hilltop, from where he witnessed the entire war. After the war, Pandavas debated who was responsible for their victory. Barbarika declared that it was only because of Krishna, as without him, he would have destroyed everyone in a single shot.
Krishna, pleased, blessed Barbarika that he would be worshipped in his name in Kali Yuga, and that’s why today he is worshipped as Khatu Shyam Ji at this temple.
