Kanyakumari is a beautiful city located in the south of Tamil Nadu state also called Cape Comorin. Kanyakumari is a very famous place where tourists from all over the world like to come. Situated at the southernmost tip of India, Kanyakumari is included among India’s most attractive and famous tourist places. It is also the confluence point of the Indian Ocean, Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea whose beautiful view attracts tourists here. The distance from Trivandrum to Kanyakumari is about 90 km and from Rameswaram about 300 km. Or you can also go by private taxi from any place in South India because the road condition is quite good and you will be able to travel comfortably.
  • By Train: If you want to reach Kanyakumari by train, you can reach Kanyakumari railway station. This railway station is directly connected by trains from many big cities of India like Mumbai, Bangalore, Trivandrum and Rameswaram.
  • By Flight: If you want to reach Kanyakumari by flight, the nearest airport is Trivandrum Airport, which is about 68 km from Kanyakumari. This airport is well connected by flights from many big cities of India. After reaching Trivandrum Airport, you can take private taxi, buses or trains to reach Kanyakumari.

Day 1

  • Vivekananda Rock Memorial: Located about 500 meters from the Indian mainland. Built in 1970 in honor of Swami Vivekananda with red and blue granite stones. It is believed that Swami Vivekananda meditated here and attained enlightenment. To reach here you need to take a ferry from Kanyakumari Beach. Ferry ticket: ₹60 per person. Here you will also see the confluence of Indian Ocean, Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea. There is also a meditation hall where you can meditate.
  • Thiruvalluvar Statue: After this you can go to Thiruvalluvar Statue by the same ferry. You can buy a combined ticket for both places. This statue is about 133 feet tall and is India’s 25th tallest statue, dedicated to the famous saint and poet Thiruvalluvar. Built by 500 artisans and opened to tourists in 2000.
  • Kanyakumari Beach & Sunset View: In the evening, you can spend time at Kanyakumari Beach and enjoy the sunset view. There is a watch tower nearby from where you can capture the beauty of the beach and the Triveni Sangam. Nearby you will also find many shops for shopping.
  • Kanyakumari Temple: Located near the beach. Also known as Kanyakumari Bhagavathy Amman Temple. The goddess is considered an incarnation of Goddess Parvati. Visiting here is a must.

After this, have dinner and rest at your hotel. This completes your Day 1 itinerary.

Day 2

  • Padmanabhapuram Palace: Located about 1 hour away from the city. Built in the 17th century, spread across 6 acres. This palace is made entirely of wood. Inside you will see Saraswati temple, brass lamps and paintings of Lord Krishna.
  • Mahatma Gandhi Mandapam: Dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi. After his death, his ashes were kept here for the people to pay tribute.
  • Tsunami Memorial: Built in memory of the people who lost their lives in the 2004 tsunami.
  • Thirparappu Waterfalls: Located about 55 km from Kanyakumari. The waterfall drops from a height of 50 feet and looks beautiful. You can also do boating here. It becomes even more beautiful in the monsoon.
