Where to Stay in Agra / Accommodation In Agra

Now you will reach Agra so let us talk about where you can stay in Agra and in what budget you can stay here. you will get hotels near railway stations and also near Taj Mahal. But according to me you should take hotel near Tajganj Basai.

Here you will get hotels ranging from ₹500 to ₹5000 and you will get to see every type of hotel here budgeted hotels also and a little luxury hotels also. I told you to stay here because the distance from Taj Mahal is from 2 km to 2.5 km and you will not face any problem of transportation from here and you can easily go anywhere from here to visit in Agra. And here near your hotels itself you will get to see many restaurants and dhabas where you can arrange your food. Therefore I have recommended you to stay near Tajganj Basai.

How Many Days to Plan for Agra Trip

Now the arrangement of stay is also discussed so now let us talk about how many days trip you should plan to visit in Agra. you can plan your trip in two ways. First if you want to add Fatehpur Sikri in your trip then you will have to plan 2 days trip and if you do not want to add Fatehpur Sikri in your trip then you can easily visit here in one day itself. You will need one extra day for Fatehpur Sikri. Therefore you can plan the trip in two ways.

Day 1 Plan – Fatehpur Sikri and Local Attractions

One day you will need to visit Fatehpur Sikri. So let’s talk about how and where you can go to visit in Agra. If you want to include Fatehpur Sikri in your trip then it will be better that you leave for Fatehpur Sikri on the first day. Now to go to Fatehpur Sikri you will get taxis and autos near your hotel itself which will take you to Fatehpur Sikri and drop you back to your hotel.

You can book taxi for ₹800 to ₹880 and if you want to go by booking auto then you can book auto for up to ₹500 but you will have to do a little bargaining so keep this in mind they ask for a little more money so you can bargain accordingly.

Now these taxi and auto will drop you at the parking stand 2 km away from Fatehpur Sikri and you will have to cover the further 2 km journey either by walking or you can also go through bus. To go inside the fort you will also get bus facility which runs at an interval of every 10 minutes and it runs for going and coming both. The ticket of this bus remains ₹10 per person. Remember you have to return by this same ticket so keep your ticket carefully with you.

Now you will reach Fatehpur Fort so you will have to take ticket there first whose ticket remains ₹50 per person and its timing is from sunrise to sunset. After dark the fort gets closed. Fatehpur Sikri is built with red sandstone. Its foundation was laid in 16th century by Mughal emperor Akbar and it is also included in the UNESCO World Heritage list.

And this place is considered the home of Jodha Bai’s palace Jama Masjid Buland Darwaza and the tomb of Salim Chishti. After that you can also see Anup Talab and Panch Mahal. Inside you will get to see many more things and while roaming here 4 to 5 hours will pass and you will not even realize.

After roaming here well you can return by bus outside to the parking stand from where you can go to Shri Tirupati Balaji Temple by your auto or taxi. It is said that most tourists coming to visit Agra definitely come to have darshan in this Tirupati Balaji Temple. Here you get peace of mind and after having darshan here you can go in the evening to Agra Chaupati which is quite famous for restaurants and dhabas. Here you can arrange your food. Here also your evening will pass and you will not even realize. After that you can go to your hotel to rest. Here your Day 1 ends.

Day 2 Plan – Taj Mahal, Red Fort and More

After that on the next day i.e. Day 2 you can go to Taj Mahal in the early morning first. It is about 3 km away from your hotel. So you can cover this distance either through e-rickshaw in which your fare comes from ₹10 to ₹40 per person. You will reach Taj Mahal through e-rickshaw or you can also book auto for all sightseeing of Day 2. For sightseeing of Day 2 you can book auto for ₹500.

Now you will reach near Taj Mahal so you will see a counter where ticket counter is built. To go inside Taj Mahal you have to take ticket of ₹50 per person and if you want to go to the tomb on top of Taj Mahal then you have to take ticket of ₹200 per person separately. So your ticket becomes ₹250. You can take this ticket from counter or you can also take online through barcode. And its timing remains from sunrise to sunset.

Here in most historical places timing remains from sunrise to sunset only and after dark it gets closed. if you have bag or food items then you have to deposit them here in cloak room. Any kind of electronic items you can take inside but bag and food items you cannot take inside. Taj Mahal is not only Agra’s famous tourist attraction but it is also a very famous tourist place in the whole world. That is why tourists from all over the world like to come here.

It was built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan for his wife Mumtaz. Taj Mahal was completed in the year 1653 and it is also very famous that after building it Shah Jahan cut off the hands of all workers. It took about 17 years to build Taj Mahal. From the gate itself the beautiful Taj Mahal looks quite good. People definitely do photography here. You roam here well and do photography. Here you can also hire a guide where you can get guides for up to ₹200 but you have to do a little bargaining.

Red Fort

After exploring Taj Mahal well you can go to your next place Red Fort which is located about 2 km away from Taj Mahal. Red Fort is built with red sandstone. this fort also looks very beautiful and it is also included in the UNESCO World Heritage list. This fort was built in the year 1573 by emperor Akbar. Outside this fort you will get to see a moat which was built to protect from heavy invasions. The ticket of Red Fort remains ₹50 per person and cloak room facility you will also get here as you got in Taj Mahal.

Here also you can take electronic items inside but bag or food items you cannot take inside. Inside this Red Fort you will get to see beautiful gardens along with Diwan-e-Aam and Anguri Bagh where you can roam peacefully. And in Anguri Bagh from this place you can also see a view of Taj Mahal. From here you get an amazing view of Taj Mahal which you can capture in your camera and also see with your eyes it looks quite beautiful. Most people come here and see the view of Taj Mahal. To roam completely in Red Fort also you will take about 3 hours.

Now you roam here well and after that you can go to Mehtab Bagh which is a beautiful place to see where there is a beautiful garden which is famous as Moonlight Garden. You can go here to roam and if you are fond of photography then you can go to Taj View Point located nearby from where the view comes something like this. If you will come here 5 days before full moon then you will have to take ticket of ₹50 per person. Most photographers come here and capture photos of Taj Mahal.

And after that if you still have more time in Agra to roam then you can go to Itmad-ud-Daula you can go to Akbar’s Tomb or you can go to Sikandra. So here your trip will be complete.

Food in Agra

if we talk about what will be the arrangement of food and drink in Agra then you will not face any problem anywhere in Agra for food and drink because you will get to see restaurants and dhabas everywhere. In some places you will also get to see street food where you can arrange your food and drink. And if we talk about how much will be the cost of a normal thali here then you will get a normal veg thali here for ₹80 to ₹100. And if you have come to Agra then you must definitely taste Agra’s famous Petha and you must definitely take it with you to your home as well.
