Temples you can visit at the Aurangabad

We discovered some temples near the Lunar lake, some of them are from the 13th century or even older. There are about 14 temples around this lake. We visited some of them. Sankar Ganesh Temple, Ramgaya Temple, Waghmahadeo Temple etc.

These temples were built on the side of the road and at the foot of the lake. We reached there at around 10 am, but we did not see any tourists. We discovered that the temples were badly damaged. The ruins of the buildings were scattered all around, which looked like looting was going on here because there had been no earthquake for about 100 years.

Udaipur Rajasthan Tourist Places, Tour Guide & Plan 2025

Sankar Ganesh Temple Aurangabad:

It looked very sad to see it, almost everything here was destroyed and the trees were destroyed. The Shiva Linga of this temple is also visible now. This temple is very beautiful and its architectural art is still well preserved in some places.

Ramgaya Temple Aurangabad:

The local people here believe that Lord Rama worshipped here before going to exile and then went there. The name Ramgaya Temple is inscribed on the walls of this temple and inside the temple. The wooden idol of Ram here is believed by the locals to be more than 100 years old. Worship is still done in this temple.

Hanuman Temple Aurangabad

There is a Hanuman temple next to the Ram temple, you can say that wherever there is Ram, there will be Hanuman, a devotee of Ram. This temple is more than 100 years old. It is very nice to see that this Hanuman temple has been built opposite the Ram temple.

Mungala Mahadeo Temple Aurangabad:

The Mungala Mahadeo temple was built very close to the lake. During the monsoon season, the water level of the Kar river rises significantly due to rain, which means that more than half of this temple goes under water.

Kamalaja Devi Temple:

Opposite the place where we were standing, on the other side of the lake, there was a temple called Kamlaja Devi Temple. This sight almost mesmerized me. But if I had more time, I would have visited that temple. This temple and the lake attract a lot of tourists and scientists.

Gomukh Temple:

The Gomukh temple is very famous for which most of the tourists flock to this temple. The reason for this is that a stream of water comes out from a hidden place in the temple and flows into the tank in the temple. The locals call it

Dhar, the locals also call this temple Dhar Mandir. The locals stand to go to this stream, they think that if they go down here, they will get blessings.

Here are some tips for getting there:

  • Try to get here by 11 am. Because you won’t be able to bear the heat here at noon. All the energy of thought will be gone.
  • Take enough water with you. And if possible, take energy boosters or glucose.
  • The temples here are scattered around the lake, so if you plan to see the whole thing, you’ll need to plan to come here early.
  • If possible, come here in the winter because you will get sick in the heat of this place during the summer.
  • There are no tickets here.
  • There are no washrooms here. If you are looking for a washroom, you can go to the hotel next door.

Places we couldn’t go to:
