Shri Jagannath Temple in Odisha
Shri Jagannath Temple is located in Puri, in the eastern part of Odisha, India. It is dedicated to Lord Shri Krishna. Devotees from not only India but all over the world come here to take darshan of Lord Jagannath. Since ancient times this temple has been considered heavenly.

By Bus
You can reach Jagannath Puri by bus, train, or flight. If you want to travel by bus, there are direct bus services from Delhi, Bhubaneswar, Varanasi, and many cities of Odisha. You can easily reach Jagannath Puri through these buses.
By Train
If you want to reach Jagannath Dham by train, you can travel to Puri Railway Station from many big cities like Delhi, Varanasi, Mumbai, Chennai, and Bangalore. These cities are well connected to Puri. The distance from Puri Railway Station to Jagannath Dham is about 2 km, which you can cover by walking or by auto. Auto fare is around ₹10 per person.
If you do not get a direct train to Puri Railway Station from your city, then you can first reach Bhubaneswar Railway Station, then take a connecting train to Puri, or travel by bus or shared taxi. The distance from Bhubaneswar to Puri is about 60 km, and bus fare is around ₹100 to ₹200 per person.

By Flight
If you want to travel by flight, you can reach Bhubaneswar’s Biju Patnaik Airport. This airport is well connected with major Indian cities like Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Mumbai, and Hyderabad. The distance from Bhubaneswar Airport to Jagannath Dham is about 60 km. Where to Stay in Jagannath Puri
In Jagannath Puri, you will find many options for accommodation. Near the temple, you can get hotels and dharamshalas. Dharamshalas are available from ₹200 to ₹500 per night. Private hotels are available from ₹600 to ₹2000 per night.
If you want to stay on Grand Road, hotels here cost around ₹1500 per night. Another option is Bhakt Niwas, which are run by the temple trust. There are four Bhakt Niwas and room charges range from ₹800 to ₹1000 per night. It is better to book these in advance as they get filled quickly.
Food Facilities in Jagannath Puri
You can easily find food facilities in your hotel or nearby restaurants and dhabas. You will get all kinds of food here. A normal thali will cost you around ₹100 to ₹150.
Jagannath Temple Darshan
Most devotees first take a holy dip at Puri Beach, which is just 1 km away, before going for darshan in Jagannath Temple.
The temple has four gates, and the main gate is Singh Dwar, located on the east side. Before entering, you have to deposit your mobile phones, purse, belts, and shoes in the cloakroom outside the temple.
Inside, you will have darshan of Lord Shri Jagannath, along with his elder brother Balabhadra and younger sister Subhadra. It is believed that the heart of Shri Krishna still exists here, known as Brahma Padartha.
Darshan usually takes about 1 to 2 hours. Inside the complex, you can also visit Shri Vimala Devi Temple, one of the 51 Shakti Peethas. Only after offering bhog to Vimala Devi, the temple’s prasad is considered Mahaprasad.
The temple’s Maha Rasoi (Great Kitchen) is also worth visiting, where 56 types of bhog are prepared for Lord Jagannath. Mahaprasad is available outside the temple in the market, ranging from ₹100 to ₹1000 depending on quantity.
